3 Places You Will NEVER Catch Me Check In On foursquare (or Facebook)

First, let’s clarify that I love the whole concept of the check-in on foursquare and Facebook. I like finding new places and sharing my adventures with my friends. I also like to see how many other people are also in a venue and are tuned in to social media. I like to read tips on places from other visitors. I even like the cool badges that you can achieve for certain check ins. But there are 3 places you will never see a check in from me. And here’s why.

1. My House
I’m just not that brave to check into my own home on foursquare (or Facebook). I don’t feel comfortable making my home’s geographic location made so readily visible on a map for all to see. I think I need you to work at it just a little. Also, I really don’t want people to pick up on my habits on when I arrive to my home based on certain events. To me, I feel like if I check into my home, someone’s doing this.

2. My Place of Employment
Again, not brave. I just think that If you have this check in linked to #1 then that guy up there has even more serious goods on me to do what he wants. I guess I read the news too much.

And finally…
3. My Kid’s School
As tempting as it is for me to say, I’m at my child’s x at y school, unless it is a school district wide event I am just not brave to post my kid’s school location on foursquare, nor will I publish the exact name of my child’s school. Just the Mommy in me.

So there you go. Places you don’t have to worry about me checking in. I have others, but I’m curious to know where are your NO NO Places? What is the strangest check in you’ve seen? Leave a comment and let me know.

I absolutely agree with each of these wholeheartedly! Social media and sharing are great, but above all personal safety comes first!! It’s important to be careful!

Another no-no place for me are any primary physician’s office. You also have to be careful of the times, too: In other words, if I had to make a late-night run to a 24 hour store for something, I definitely would not check that trip in! Thanks so much for sharing! :)

You know, I never thought about the doctor. But most definitely those late night runs are a NO NO.
